Strong Ties between UYI and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
The 300 Amphitheatre of the University of Yaounde I was the venue this Tuesday, July 15, 2025, for a conference on academic exchange between the University of Yaounde I and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. The discussions revolved around the theme: “Student Exchange Program between Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) and University of Yaounde I: Opportunities, Assessment and Perspectives.”
The conference was chaired by the Vice-Rector in charge of Research and Cooperation, Prof. Edmond Biloa, representing the Rector, and attended by senior officials of the Embassy of Japan in Cameroon.
During the ceremony, Professor Oishi Takanori delivered a presentation on a topic of relevance to the academic community. Two students also shared their personal exchange experiences with Japan.
First, Mille Saeki Ayaka spoke on the theme “My Experience as a Student in Japan and Cameroon: Opportunities and Challenges of the Exchange Program,” highlighting both the benefits and obstacles encountered during her stay in Cameroon.
Then, Verdiane Yemata shared insights on “Studying in Japan for One Year: An Unforgettable Exchange Experience,” offering her memories and reflections on her time abroad.
The representative of the Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon, Mr. Uehara, emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between both institutions.
The event opened with welcome remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences (FALSH), Prof. Rodolphine Sylvie Wamba, and concluded with a hopeful message from Vice-Rector Prof. Edmond Biloa, who expressed his wish for stronger ties of sharing and fellowship between UYI and the Embassy of Japan in Cameroon.
