At Ngoa-Ekelle, the new academic year has not gone unnoticed, it has made its presence felt! This Monday, October 5, 2026, the University of Yaounde I came alive with the excitement of a major academic event as the 2026–2027 academic year officially got underway. To assess this momentum firsthand, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, immersed himself in the heart of the campus for a field visit focused on direct engagement and practical realities.
Welcomed by the Rector of the University of Yaounde I, Prof. Remy Magloire Etoua, the Minister of State made his way through the large student crowd, visiting successively Lecture Hall 250 of the Faculty of Education, the massive Lecture Hall 1001 of the Faculty of Science, and Lecture Halls 501 and 502 of the Faculty of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences.
Everywhere, the scene was the same: lecture halls packed to capacity, students settling in from the early hours so as not to miss a single opportunity to learn, and lecturers already fully engaged at the board, committed to imparting knowledge. It was a powerful demonstration of the continued vitality of the “Mother University.”
Seizing the opportunity, the Chancellor of Academic Orders energized the lecture halls with one of his characteristic powerful messages: “You are the Prometheuses of the nation: go and steal this knowledge that will transform tomorrow’s Cameroonian society!”
While commending the dedication of the lecturers who were mobilized from day one, the Minister of State urged the youth to transform this initial enthusiasm into intellectual boldness and discipline, so as to make knowledge a driving force for national transformation.
By coming directly into contact with the reality of the campus, the Minister of State has set the tone for a 2026–2027 academic year at the University of Yaounde I marked by rigor, scientific excellence and the pursuit of academic prestige.
