The Rector of the University of Yaounde I, Professor Remy Magloire ETOUA, chaired a ceremony of congratulations and encouragement this Thursday, July 10, 2025, in honour of the students admitted to the 2025 entrance examination of Polytechnique of Paris, as well as the IDEX Paris-Saclay scholarship recipients.
The event took place in the 200 Amphitheatre of NASEY, in the presence of several high-ranking officials of the University of Yaounde I, as well as the families of the laureates who came to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
In total, 12 students from the UY1 were admitted to Polytechnique of Paris, out of 17 selected nationwide. Taking the floor next, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Jean Calvin OWONO OWONO, warmly congratulated the day’s laureates. He emphasised the value of “excellence”, which, in his view, must remain the cornerstone of all academic ambition.
In his address, the Rector, Professor Remy Magloire ETOUA, “expressed his pride and heartfelt congratulations to the laureates, as well as to the entire teaching and supervisory staff of the University of Yaounde I for their outstanding work”. He further urged institutional heads to intensify communication efforts to better showcase UYI’s talents and increase student participation in academic honours, both nationally and internationally.
He concluded his remarks with a solemn wish:
“Dear laureates, as you prepare to begin your new academic journey at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions, I urge you to be true ambassadors of Cameroonian excellence.”
