Minister of State sets the course for 2026
The New Year’s wishes ceremony of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, H.M. Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, was held this Friday, January 30, 2026, at 700 Amphitheatre of the Faculty of the FMBS, University of Yaounde I.
This solemn event took place in the presence of high-ranking authorities from the national and international university community in Cameroon. The delegation from the University of Yaounde I was led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Maurice Tchuente.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the award of the Knight of the National Order of Valour medal to the Rector of the University of Yaounde I, Prof. Remy Magloire Etoua, in recognition of his commitment and services rendered to the nation.
Among the other key moments of the ceremony were:
the presentation of letters of commendation to staff members admitted to retirement;
the presentation of lecturers listed as eligible for promotion to the magisterial rank, for the year 2025;
the signing of an individual health and accident insurance policy for students of State Universities, by Rectors and Vice-Chancellors, among others.
In his address, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher education, expressed his “gratitude to the Rector of UYI for the quality of the equipment and facilities that hosted the ceremony.” He also conveyed his “thanks to the entire university community mobilized for the occasion,” while recalling the challenges, prospects, and recommendations of the Head of State, aimed at making Cameroonian higher education more innovative, more efficient, and more professionally oriented.
