UY1 Strengthens the Capacities of Its Student Association Leaders
A training seminar for leaders of associations and cultural clubs at the University of Yaounde I (UY1) was held this Monday, May 5, 2025, in the dining hall of University Restaurant No. 2. The meeting, chaired by the VRRCRME, Professor Edmond Biloa, representing the Rector Professor Remy Magloire Etoua, took place in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC).
The goal of this training was to strengthen the skills of young student leaders in several key areas: leadership, ethics, administrative deontology, PRONEC-REAMORCE, mobilization strategies, project development, and fundraising.
Presentations, practical advice, and other educational content marked the day’s activities, creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment. One of the highlights of the seminar was the awarding of certificates to participants.
The Director of the Students Affairs Office, Dr. Socrate Ntyama, emphasized the importance of this initiative at a time when the role of youth in nation-building is becoming increasingly vital. He gave a presentation on ethics and deontology, before addressing the issue of leadership in the context of democracy.
For his part, Professor Edmond Biloa reminded attendees of the fundamental qualities a good leader must embody: responsibility, vision, self-control, and the ability to bring people together. He concluded his speech with the theme “Leadership in the University Environment: Self-Control and the Promotion of Social Harmony,” stressing the need to foster a healthy, peaceful, and constructive atmosphere within the student community.
