The University of Yaounde I Stands Out from the Opening Day
The 7th edition of the Cameroon Student’s Ingenuity and Talent Fair (GETEC 2025) was officially launched this Monday, June 16, at the National Museum in Yaounde. The solemn ceremony was presided over by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, in the presence of the Rector of the University of Yaounde I, Prof. Remy Magloire Etoua, along with several top academic officials from UYI.
True to its tradition of excellence, UYI is participating in all competition categories, including agropastoral and fisheries entrepreneurship, crafts, culture, digital innovation, and environmental initiatives. Two dedicated stands showcase innovations from the university’s seven institutions. Featured among them are projects developed by students from the Faculty of Arts, Letters, and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Sciences in the agropastoral domain. Students from the IUT-Bois of Mbalmayo are well represented in the crafts pavilion.
In his address, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo praised the innovative “university-Business” concept, which he described as a “legal sanctuary for a pragmatic evolution aimed at strengthening students’ skill acquisition.” He further encouraged the students to show boldness, creativity, and resilience.
Led by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, accompanied by the Rector of UYI and other high-ranking officials, the official delegation visited the stands, congratulated the young competitors, and expressed support for all the initiatives presented. The competitions are set to begin on Tuesday, June 17, and will run until Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the National Museum.
The UYI is determined to shine through the quality of its projects and once again prove the relevance of its training model, which is firmly oriented toward innovation, empowerment, and sustainable development.
The university’s competitors have received words of encouragement from the Rector, Prof. Remy Magloire Etoua, and are aiming for victories in most categories.
