UY1 Charts New Directions
The University of Yaounde I held its University Council meeting on Monday, June 2, 2025, in the Conference Hall of the Rectorate, under the chairmanship of Professor Remy Magloire Etoua, Rector of the institution. In the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education (MINESUP), the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI), and other high-ranking academic figures, this session served as a platform for shaping the university’s future.
Academically, participants reviewed the current academic year, approved the draft charter and anti-plagiarism guide, adopted new professional training programs, and authorized the opening of Master’s programs in selected faculties. Internal regulations for several institutions were also approved, and key decisions were taken regarding the careers of faculty members, including promotions and collaboration contracts.
Beyond academic matters, the Council focused on strategies to improve the university’s own-source revenues through better organization of income-generating activities.
Professor Remy Magloire Etoua expressed “his gratitude to all Council members for the quality of discussions and deliberations” that marked the session.
