Staff Members Attend a Conference at the University of Yaounde I
As part of the 139th International Labour Day celebration, the conference room of the Central Library of the University hosted a debate under the theme: “Rights and Duties of Support Staff.”
This exchange was chaired by Mr. Isaac Bissala, Confederation President of the Union of Workers of Cameroon (UGTC).
To open the session, the Secretary General of Synapauc, Mr. Florent Konrad Mbarga, recalled the theme of this 139th edition: “Social Dialogue and Decent Work for a Peaceful Cameroon.”
He then presented the origins of International Labour Day, its historical background, objectives, and the means implemented to achieve them.
He concluded by encouraging support staff to “excel in what they do because work is a way to escape need.”
The UGTC Confederation President, in turn, gave a talk on corporate culture. He emphasized the importance of the two key stakeholders in a company: “the employer and the employee,” highlighting their respective contributions. “The employer must organize the work, and everyone must know their role,” he stressed.
At the end of the discussion, the support staff present expressed the wish for more such exchange opportunities in the future.
